Default Big black saloon wanted... but which one?

For a long while i've wanted an Alfa Romeo 156, in black with cream leather and wooden interior and white clocks. (it has to be perfect)

...But my dad tells me they're well-known for being unreliable

So! What other cars could i get?

Here are the things to include:
  • Budget of around £5,000
    Big black saloon
    Leather interior
    Diesel (for economy really)

And that's about it, something like a BMW 320D or an Audi A6..

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
