Default saab 2.2 td engine..Any good at high mileage

My boss has offered me his saab 95 estate 2.2 diesel for a good price, he knows his cars well and does everything his self when it comes to upkeep, all new bushes and much more so the car is sound, the thing is it is near 170k miles, i was wondering if these GM (Vectra??) Engines are any good, cheers all

As long as it's been regularly serviced with correct grade of oil I think it could be a very good buy indeed. I presume most of the miles were motorway miles?

Should be fine. I'm assuming this isn't the TiD model.

I don't remember the model. it's the 2.2. But My boss basically rebuilds his cars so to speak. A dedicated spannerman, I'll find out which engine, He rates it and says the 3 ltr isuzu engines are carbage

2.2 are a bit, rubbish to be honest mate, they were made by Izusu and were never much cop to be honest, the later 1.9's are far better. The rest of the car is good though, I do believe Saabs of that era where best with the 2.0 turbo or the 2.3 turbo engine in any state of tune, very strong and very reliable.

The fuel pumps are notoriously weak, forgot to mention that...
