Default diesel woes

Hi

I currently ha a 11 plate zafira 1.7cdti ecoflex elite.

I have taken this car back for the fuel consumption to be checked out
They replied the mpg is ok, but I have just worked it out to the following.

33.41 mpg am i missing something here or is this all i can expected for combined driving.

any comments would be most looked forward to

Greetings and Welcome to TorqueCars My Friend!

What sort of mileage does the manual say that you can expect from it then?

It depends entirely on driving style and typical journeys.

If the car is running improperly you'd notice a profound lack of power and acceleration.

If it pulls strongly in all gears and isn't chucking out soot from the exhaust I suspect that everything is fine.

What's your usual drive and journey 'profile'?

Even for a big zafiri that's not good. That said if the engine only has a few miles on it it could just still be tight and with more miles it will loosen up and do better.

For a new engine 34mpg strikes me as OK. I think you'll find the economy improves as the engine runs in and develops its best performance. By the time you're at 10,000-20,000 miles you will be seeing better fuel economy. By 100,000 miles you'll have had a good saving in fuel costs and the performance should be even better.

I have the Corsa D SRi CDTI 2010 model with the same engine and I am getting between 45 to 48 combined milage and my current milage is 17500. I must admit that as the engine settles in the MPG is getting better but bear in mind that you have a big body for the 1.7 engine.

Welcome to the sight, just to let you know there is a Vauxhall section.

It will improve over time without question but journey type and driving style still play the biggest influential roles in determining economy.
