The A487 is worth a look as well, as is the A5 across Snowdonia along with many others.

Watch your speed in North Wales, especially around the roads close to Betws-y-Coed.

The North Wales Police (Heddlu Gogledd Cymru for Welsh speakers) are very rigorous when it comes to speed enforcement.

It is a bit of a hike, I agree. The A487 runs all the way to the A5 intersection at Bangor, close to the North Wales Coast. Nice drive though.

I didn't realise that the Gwent constabulary is as ruthless as Richard Brunstrom's in the North.

Some of the roads are delightful though, I spent a lot of time in North Wales during 2003-04.

Done the A5 many times. It is great, one of the best, when its quiet. You go on it on a busy day, and forget it. You will do 35mph for the whole 80 odd miles.

I was on a course about 6 months ago, with the ex head of police in Conway, and I asked him (because he was no longer a rozzer) why they were such arogunt ''people'' in that police force. I happed to be talking nice and loud when talking to someone behind me, about some arse who used to take out a speed gun on there days off and sit on Conway bridge at the 50mph zone (I knew it was him), and when all the lads started taking the mickey, he went red in the face!!!! lol

#!#!#! jobsworth loser!!! hahaha

Traffic police generally detest speed trap duty, despite the fact that it is clearly necessary in some places.
