Default What Would Make A Decent Set Up

Ive been looking around at lots of stereos and speakers and so on but all the 200w and 300w ratings and so dont really say much to me. I know that they will be louder or better but what Wattage are we looking at for a decent speaker.
Plus i work at maplins and I was taking a look at the stuff they got and its quite cheap plus i can get a staff discount . What do you think of these
Stereo with usb/bluetooth/mp3 input - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=224868
Maplins 6x9 speakers - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37987

1st ignore the peak wattage go for RMS and read up properly as some cheaper stuff will be rated at 14.4 volts and others at 12v so there is a differnce at the same voltages.
theres no point looking at massive watts ether unless your wanting to take part in sound level comps. your ears will have giving up before they will
speakers construction is also to be looked at - paper, plastic even carbon fibre.

a good system to me would be a good headunit
components up front
2 way in the rear and a sub and amp in the boot.

If your having a sub in the boot then scrap the 6x9's.
