Default Hi from a 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 owner!

Afternoon all. I'm Stu and live in Morley, Leeds.
Been driving my Peugeot 406 Coupe for almost 3 years. Before I bought it I had no idea about cars and the maintenance of them apart from checking the oil. Out of the factory (10 years ago!) my car had 210bhp and obviously some of those horses will have bolted or died by now. I've tried to keep up to that level with a custom stainless exhaust, enclosed cold air induction kit and the latest mod is a custom made fibre glass ram air scoop to replace the old "Sock" that goes all over the place and effectively strangles the engine!

I'd love to learn more about tuning this beauty, I know the "Tractor" hdi boys can get massive gains from performing a defap and remap of the ECU. From 136bhp to around and above 180bhp but still get 52mpg! I'm hoping I can find ways to make the most of the engine I've got and maybe learn more about tuning so I'll apologize now if I ask some stupid questions!

Cheers all and safe driving

Stu

Howdo.

I had a 406 saloon some years back and loved it. The coupe is a nice looking car, wasnt it designed by pininfarina?

As for performance, with what you've done already, even though it's an n/a engine, you would still benefit I think from a custom remap, Done well it should give you another 15 horses or so, judging from what i've seen on other n/a v6s.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks, yes that's right, it was designed by Pininfarina hence the lovely lines on the bodywork. Looking at the related topics in "405/406" sections it looks like there's some familiar faces from the 406 coupe forum on here already! I'll look forward to trawling through their threads and seeing what you folks have suggested.

I was thinking remap, maybe some balancing too in the future? Something like that to make the most of the engine I've got. I understand that NA isn't great for tuning compared to turbo but it's worth a shot!

Aye, you might not get the outright gains that a remap on a diesel would but it'll certainly sound a lot nicer.
