Greetings and Welcome to TorqueCars My Friend!

I think a classic Beetle for your first car is wrong! No air-con for the summer, less than adequate brakes, spare parts difficult to resource and may take some time to arrive, if the silliest thing goes wrong on the car you will be going to work on the bus while you sort the problem out! Only my tuppence worth you understand!

If you really really want it, just beware of the task you face in keeping it on the road. Also while you are or should I say going to be a new driver, your risk of having a minor accident in the following 12 months are great, and the willingness of the insurance companies to write a car off these days for a small amount of damage is just plain wrong.

I think a small reliable Japanese or German car might be best for you to start off with, especially until you grow in confidence with driving on the road while gaining some valuable experience. But at the end of the day it is your money and your choice, I wish you the very best of luck in whatever you decide to do

nice idea for a 1st car.
do you have access to a garage ? if so then id say the beetle as a 2nd car and get something else to begin with and work in on the beetle to get it running better.
remember they arent the most reliable cars in the world

Hi there, I hope you are well. May I wish you a warm welcome to TorqueCars, it is a pleasure to meet you.

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE COST OF THE INSURANCE YET? This is usually the deciding factor. I'd not spend much on a first car as it is highly likely it will get damaged in some way.

You'll find us a pretty friendly bunch and I'm sure you'll start to love and enjoy the forums as much as we all do. (It gets quite addictive at times.)

Feel free to get involved in our other threads, all opinions are welcome and as they say "the more the merrier"! (It's also great when people start new threads and discussions and all adds to the great debate.)
