Default Hello everyone!

Hey everyone, my name's Chris and I'm just going to introduce myself!
I own a modest little Ford Escort, not the greatest I know but it's a start for my first car. Thus far I've wacked an induction kit into it and got a new exhaust, (basically to make it sound deeper :P). Obviously I'm new to the scene and relatively clueless, so any help and advice would be greatley appreciated. Reading the various articles really opened my eyes and got me interested in tuning and so forth so yeah that's the end of my lengthy introduction, peace out

Wassup Chris. Welcome to the site! An Escort is a very good first car to have, what plans do you have for it?

Thanks, Paul

I am pretty good with Ford pre-crossflow, crossflow, Pinto SOHC, Cosworths and Lotus Twincams. I know nothing about Zetec, Duratec, etc.

Could probably also help with gearboxes and diffs, but only RWD.

So, all in all, I will probably be no use at all!

Haha thanks for the response guys!

As for plans I was thinking about maybe sticking a body kit on it, what do you think?

Engine underneath is the standard 1.6 Zetec, so nothing too special about that :P So what's the fuel pressure regulator and what exactly does it do? (Yeah I'm a bit clueless sorry)

uprating the fuel pressure reg normally doesnt give you more power but it will speed up throttle respone

as the name suggest it holds the fuel at a pressure that is needed by the engine. stops it running lean / rich

Hi Silvor and welcome to TorqueCars. I wish you every success with your tuning project, there are certainly plenty of parts around. Plan your build carefully and try to be different. So many escorts have the same badly fitting kit. Personally i'd stick to engine Modifications and go with a sleeper look. Put a 1.3L badge on the back and drop in a tuned RS Turbo block.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea actually, the sleeper look is something I would prefer, because otherwise I might attract unwanted attention ¬_¬
How much would putting in an RS Turbo block cost roughly?

1.6 is quite big of an engine for your first car, nice one Mine was a 98 1.4l Civic Hatchback.

Was awesome, frankly.

Best of luck modding your escort.
