I didn't know you needed a licence for using a trailer? Is there a weight restriction or soemthing and is this on newer licences?

yeah on the new licenses ( early 90's onwards ) your limited to under 3.5 ton, cant drive with a trailer and cant drive minibuses (over 9 seats), yet you can drive the equivalant van
