The engine mounts are hydraulic, but many petrol cars use them too. At this point in time I'm looking to conserve ready cash so will be following advice you offer. ie. replace the rear bushes with poly's and leave the rest well alone.

I think the engine is mounted on a subframe which might have other rubbery compliant things in the mix. THey, too, can wait for now
