Type R brakes should give more than adequate stopping power. Be careful with some of the "racing pads" these have to warm up so are pretty useless on a daily driver. Vented and grooved disks of the same size would be better than the standard setup so bear this in mind. You might get a cheap second hand set from a breakers yard and get these fitted and use the money to upgrade the calipers/pistons and pads.
