Be watchful of the A421 if you use that road. TVP love setting up the tally van on the Tingewick bypass. Although it's usually positioned on the westbound side, they do monitor both carriageways. Rumour has it that they're disinterested below about 85mph, but they might have a bad hair day.

As for the exhaust, as long as the leak is in the pipe length and not the manifold then you won'y do any harm at all. Just look under the car and check that nothing's about to fall onto the road.

It's unlikely to be manifold as the noise would be absolutely horrendous. And the running would be extremely rough.
