Re: How much will you spend on your car in 2008? Biggest spend will always be fuel and other running costs.
I'm going to need new discs and pads all round by early summer and I'm considering a mild upgrade in materials. Having previously used EBC materials and found them a bit weak kneed (but the green stuff pads do give amazing bite from cold!).
Currently using ATE discs and pads but propose Rossini discs front and rear with matching pads. So around £500 for the lot includhave theng cost of fitting.
Front drive diesel cars are nose heavy and put a lot of load on brakes. Dissipating the excess heat has got to be a good thing.
I also plan to have the engine coolant replaced with new stuff and add Purple Ice to help heat transfer from water to oil and vice versa in the oil/water heat exchanger.
tyres are due soon as well. Currently I have a bit of a mix n match set with Conti Sports at the back. Firestone TZ (crap) left front and Viking Protech II right front.
I'm going to push things here and fit Viking Protech II's all round. They are a new pattern and the one that's fitted is truly grippy and sticky, wears evenly and at £52 for fit valve balance and VAT for a 215/55/16W is a bargain. They even look pretty with the assymetric tread pattern. |
