i'd just like to clear up my confusion about engines.
a straight six is six cylinders in a straight line?
a v6 is 3 cylinders in a straight line but with another 3 opposite, slightly angled to resemble a V shape?
a V12 is the same but with 6 cylinders opposite each other?
does a v unit produce more power over a straight unit?
a straight unit can either be SOHC or DOHC - single or double cams
so would that mean that a V unit would/could have QOHC - Quad Over Head Cam?
and where do valves come in? are SOHC engines without valves quicker as theya re less complex? or 1.2i without valves faster accelerating that a 1.2i 16v?
do valves work on the principle the more the better? i.e 12v inferior to 16v?
what about 24v?
thats all for now
